The nominating letter read as follows:

Norris's service to trapshooting began in 1986 when he was first elected to the board of
Directors of the Grand Forks Gun Club. He has served a total of about 15 years on that
board. He has served in the capacity of Treasurer for three years and President for three
years. During his tenure as President which occurred just prior to and after the flood, his
presence helped save the club when others may have given up on it.

Norris was instrumental in obtaining the first Pat traps for Grand Forks. He was one of a
few dissenting board members from the majority that wanted to get the cheaper traps, which
were also purchased. This was in 2002 and Norris was retired the secondtime. It was his
pickup and time that were used to travel to Minneapolis to pick up the traps. He and a
couple other folks put in literally 100s of hours at the club that spring and summer
modifying trap houses to make the installation possible and convenient to load and maintain.

The next year Norris knew that many of the Grand Forks board members were unfamiliar
with the new-fangled voice pulls, but he felt strong enough that they were needed he went
out and purchased one with his own money and donated it to the club. That initial purchase,
along with some arm-twisting convinced a couple other members they could donate for a
second one.

Over the years, Norris donated many other hours and money in hauling tractors out to his
brother's for overhauls, scrounging materials for this and that, and in general doing the
behind the scenes work needed to keep a volunteer club going.

On the state level, Norris was elected to the board of directors in 1992 and served as a
Northeast representative for 15 years till this past summer. He served on the board of the
ND Roughrider trap associaion and is a past Colonel of that organization.

Norris has shot slightly over 100,000 registered targets over the past 32 years. He has
attended the Grand American, the Spring Grand American and the Golden West Grand.
He has won trophies at the state shoot, had 100 straight in singles and handicap, and has
made the ND state veteran team.

On April 14th, students from UND participating in the Big Event came to the gun club from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. to volunteer labor. This is the third year UND students have come to the gun club - we very much appreciate their volunteer time.
